The plant is called khair in Hindi and kachu in Malay, hence the name was Latinized to &#8220;catechu&#8221; in Linnaean taxonomy, as the type-species from which the extracts cutch and catechu are derived. Common names for it include kher, catechu, cachou, cutchtree, black cutch, and black catechu.<br \/>\nKatha (catechu), an extract of its heartwood, is used as an ingredient to give red color and typical flavour to Sweets in India After Obtaining Katha (catechu), it\u2019s waste is known as Cutch and this waste is used to make Garnet Brown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colour Imparted:-<\/strong><br \/>\nIt gives different shades of brown with different mordents.<\/p>\n<p>Ayurvedic\/Medicinal\/Healing Properties :-<br \/>\nExternally it is employed as an astringent and as cooling application to ulcers, boils and eruptions on the skin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dyeing process :<\/strong>&#8211;<br \/>\nMordant the cellulose Fibers with Alum 10% Wof for 30 mins at 80C.<br \/>\nAfter Mordanting one wash to the fiber,<br \/>\nTake Garnet Brown as per the desired shade, for medium take 10% wof and dye the fiber for 1 hour at 100C.<br \/>\nNow wash with non-ionic
